Innovative Office Products (IOP) has long prided itself on the configurability of its products to suit nearly any need. Through their close relationships with partners, such as Steelcase, an important insight was gained on topic of configurability: offices, and the workstations within them, are more dynamic that previously imagined. It was no longer sufficient that IOP's products were configurable; IT and Facilities departments wanted them to be more easily reconfigurable...in the field...with a simple kit of parts and a minimum of basic tools.

Previously there were a few specialized parts for single, dual, or triple monitor configurations. In addition there were other specialized parts depending upon use of straight extension arms vs. counterbalanced arms. This lead to unnecessary confusion and cost, but the STAXX component changed all of that. With the introduction of ONE new versatile part we were able to eliminate FIVE one-trick-pony parts. This had a simplifying effect on IOP's core product line on nearly every level: part count went down, inventory became more flexible, the product became easier to understand, easier to use, and...if I may say so...easier to look at.
